LYLA BERG, Infrastructure Partner

Lyla Berg is a dedicated leader and educator based in Honolulu, Hawai’i. With over 30 years of experience, she has worked extensively in leadership development, sustainability, and education in various communities across the Hawaiian Islands. 

An individual passionate about making a difference, we’re delighted to have Lyla join SP as an Infrastructure Partner focusing on infrastructure solutions for schools throughout her home state.

Prior to SP, Lyla’s career centered in the Department of Education for the State of Hawai’i and with the University of Hawai’i System, in the Hawai’i State Legislature as State Representative of the 18th District, and with a myriad of non-profit and pro bono service activities. Lyla is also the Co-Founder of SPIRIT-ED, a nonprofit that fosters leadership development based on altruistic principles.

Lyla holds a Ph.D. in Education from The Union Institute,  M.Ed. degrees from the University of Hawaii-Manoa and the American University in Washington, D.C., along with certifications from prestigious institutions such as Harvard and Georgetown universities. Her work spans roles in education, media, and civic engagement, including active participation as a Rotarian and as the host of community-focused television shows.

In addition to her professional work, Lyla is an active community member, serving on several boards and promoting civic engagement. Lyla speaks four languages and her passions include international travel, ballroom dancing, Argentine tango, and supporting sustainable initiatives.
